Description
MAIN PURPOSE
- To be responsible for department's service budget preparation and budget monitoring processes, and overseeing grant claims.
- To be responsible for financial advice to the Director of CSF, CSF managers, head teachers and their staff, other managers and members on all financial matters related to schools and the children's services.
- To participate in the management of the Accountancy team.
Qualifications and Experience
Full professional membership of CIPFA or equivalent (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) Experience of providing financial advice in a multi functional organisation
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of local government finance, accounting practice and the regulatory framework
- Knowledge of education and children's services funding mechanisms
- Knowledge of the arrangements for devolved management of schools and the financial implications of these arrangements
- Understanding of the principles of resource allocation and the ability to apply these to local education and children's services
- Understanding of management accounting, and the ability to present financial information for management decision-making
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide advice to CSF Assistant Directors, managers, head teachers and school staff on funding, budget preparation and monitoring and financial control.
