Within the CIO business unit, Cloud Services & Hosting (CS&H) is the department responsible for all hosting activities (hardware and Middleware application management, connectivity and databases). The department consists of 6 teams. This position will fall within the Data Services team. This team consists of approximately 30 people and is responsible for the various data infrastructure services. Within the CIO business unit, Cloud Services & Hosting is in addition to managing and optimizing the on-prem environment also responsible for the transition to Cloud technology. This transition is a major challenge and requires a lot from the IT organization in terms of IT technology, method, process, organization, but also the personal skills and attitude of IT employees. Working methods change and processes become more and more automated. Attention to the total of technical, process and human side is needed for the change to lead to a success. The transitions must not disrupt the operational services on the current services. We work in small knowledge-intensive teams in which substantive expertise and cooperation are essential to make correct and future-proof choices. Description of work environment (department/project)
As a SQL/Client database engineer, you and your team members are responsible for supporting the application teams in the management of and changes to the NN databases. The primary team in which you will work is responsible for the technical support of the Finance & Risk chain group and the Belgian entity. The main focus is on supporting applications that run on SQL and Client. Together with your colleagues you are responsible for the availability, performance and management of the database environment.
As a Database Engineer these are your concrete tasks:
Performing database tasks for application changes, upgrades or migrations.
Plan, design, upgrade, implement, tune and manage databases in relation to the applications
Proactively coordinate and implement actions to make available & maintaining databases
Taking care of documentation and improving working methods (automate where possible).
Performance monitoring and tuning
Monitoring (setting up and monitoring alerts)
Database security: improving security measures in accordance with standards and policies
In coordination support during the weekend in the event of major application changes (in consultation)
Specific knowledge and requirements
You have the following qualities:
Minimum HBO thinking level
Experienced in database management and engineering
Experience with MS SQL (12 and 16 preferred).
Experience with Client (11 and 12) and Client Cloud control, RMAN.
Experience with ITIL processes and implementation in accordance with standards
