Role overview:
Holding relevant technical certifications, you will also need to have experience with datacentre migrations and upgrades, as well as demonstrate detailed knowledge of the Juniper QFX platform, EVPN/VXLAN technology and Cisco 6500s. iBGP and OSPF knowledge is required. Previous experience with implementing IPv6 in the data centre is also highly recommended.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist in the high level and low-level design of the new network core using the Juniper platform.
- Undertake the installation, configuration and documentation of the new Juniper QFX network core using EVPN/VXLAN technologies while adhering to best practises. The migration is from Cisco 6500s.
- Migrate all existing networks and network connectivity to the new cores.
- Implement IPv6 at the network layer to ensure readiness for dual-stacked endpoints.
- Create technical and support documentation detailing the setup for all works carried out.
Specialist Knowledge/Skills:
- Juniper QFX Switching Platform
- Cisco 6500s, Nexus 5500s and FEX.
- Ability to set and drive goal-based initiatives in a complex business environment where technical requirements are continuously evolving.
- Experience within a controlled/compliance-based environment. Working within a change management framework.
- Systems monitoring and troubleshooting experience using tools such as Nagios, SolarWinds, Wireshark and other related network debugging tools.
- Routing Protocols: OSPF, iBGP/eBGP, VRFs (for IPv4 and IPv6)
- Understanding of Security concepts and implementations: Firewalls, IDS, VPNs.
- Advanced knowledge of Ethernet Technologies (40/10/1 Gigabit, Interface Modules, etc)
- Layer 2 Technologies: PVST+
- Layer 2 Fabrics: EVPN/VXLAN
Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold the following certifications from Cisco and Juniper.
- Juniper: JNCIP-DC or above or JNCIS-ENT/JNCIP-ENT
- Cisco: CCNP level or above
