Description

We are looking for an experienced Unix Engineer that has good experience and knowledge on RHEL/SLES/SUSE.
The role will be based on our customer site who are a large bank based in London. Previous banking experience would be very advantageous, and you must have worked in a large enterprise environment. The role is ideally looking to start ASAP.

Key Skills:

Regular and timely production of monthly patch bundles on Unix/Linux platform (RHEL, SLES mainly)
Review, packaging and testing of patches for critical vulnerabilities
Development and maintenance of the Linux OS SuperStack Build and deployment mechanism
Set global Linux standards, test and certify in lab facility
Working with vendors, produce best practice solutions for the domain
Provide consultancy, guidance and collaborate with architecture, projects, support and other engineering teams
3rd Line support to all regional Unix and Linux teams
Knowledge & Experience/Qualifications:
Experience and proven track record in operating system Unix/Linux engineering for the Red Hat/SUSE platform
Strong development skills particularly in bash, AWK, git and Scripting troubleshooting
Familiarity with technical steps involved in preparing and deploying patches across a large Red Hat/SUSE/Linux environment using enterprise deployment tools such as HPSA, Puppet
Thorough understanding of the management processes required to run large multi-country IT installations
In-depth understanding of the technical product and platform usages within the Enterprise Services & Architecture sub-function and future roadmaps
Ability to work in a multi country, culturally diverse and time-zone separated role
Good communications skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
Analytical with the ability to understand and resolve complex problems
Knowledge of GIT, JIRA, Confluence, Ansible etc.
Experience on Veritas Volume manager/Veritas Cluster server.
