Description

Job Title: Linux SME
Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Duration: 6 months + Contract
Start: ASAP
Rate: Minimum the best

Role Summary:

Responsible for resolving rare incidents, fulfilling complicated requests, and implementing wide sweeping changes.
Utilizes extensive Scripting expertise to dramatically increase productivity in resolving incidents, fulfilling requests, and implementing changes across all compute infrastructure.
Works independently and contributes to the immediate team and to other teams across the business.

Essential Responsibilities:

Point of operational technical escalation for operational teams related to Linux
L3 Linux Technical SME for IT Architectural services and designs
Daily collaboration with L1 and L2 teams to support the Linux environments.

Identify and provide Linux support to new tactical Infrastructure solutions
Collaborate to drive technical best practices across the Linux operating systems and technologies
Support leadership with new solution delivery for Linux, including leading Linux solutions to meet the current and future needs of our customers
Work seamlessly to input Linux considerations into architectural reviews, supporting regional Infrastructure teams
Defining and deploying best practice Linux standards for IT teams.
Deliver best practice Linux modelling, adherence to compliance and standards for all Linux systems and operating models
Driving ITIL adoption on service deployment and delivery for Linux platforms. Support any handover of Linux environments
Execute a culture of strong documentation and process adherence across Linux technical disciplines
Key member of regional CAB, review requests and ensure Linux associated changes are delivered compliantly
Proactively ensure backup and restore services are compliant and efficient for Linux systems Present & visible at Cheltenham site to support local teams with technical Linux processes, documentation and compliance
Contribute to and define accurate technical attributes for CMDB regional CI information for Linux operating system environments
Defining & reporting to Senior management, key technical opportunities to drive continual service improvements
Provide technical insight and support tactically, as directed by organizational leadership (UK and global)

Qualifications/Requirements:

Substantial Linux technical experience supporting and leading Linux technical services.

Substantial hands on experience with Linux Operating Systems.

Substantial experience communicating to multiple stakeholder levels, including L1, L2 and customers and senior leadership.

Experience in generating and presenting technical solutions, delivering architectural arguments and considerations.

Experience working across a diverse environment of IT employees, consultants and vendors.

ITILv3 certified,

Experience of working in ITIL controlled environment

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be willing to work out of Cheltenham, UK site.
