Description

Software Development Engineer Internship opportunity for those studying for a Computer Science degree (on track for a 1st or 2.1) from a top University with a solid software development proficiency and experience of or an avid interest in Python, C, C#, OOP, IP Networking, distributed systems, cloud computing (AWS, GCP, Azure), Javascript, Linux and video conferencing protocols.

The internship will last for 8 - 10 weeks over the summer and you will be given a menu of projects to choose from in order to carve out your own experience and demonstrate the extent of your passion and skills. Our multi layered, scalable, high-availability product has a continuous integration system that means even as a new engineer or intern you have the potential to shape its development and make an impact on its features and functionality right from the start.

Among other features, the products you will work on enable integration with other video conferencing products, and so partnerships with Google and Microsoft are already in place. Over a billion minutes of video conferencing go through the platform every year and the technology allows a range of disparate virtual devices - Skype, web browsers, room systems, Android and iOS - and a variety of technologies to connect and collaborate in the same meeting, seamlessly. Test-driven development is at the very the heart of everything the company does. This allows the evolving product to be continuously monitored and assists the team in meeting demanding quality and time targets.

Skills you may have touched upon during your degree or through your own personal projects and hobbies include:

  • Python, C, C#
  • Web development: Javascript, Typescript, Angular etc.
  • iOS/Android application development
  • Object Oriented programming and design patterns
  • Event-driven networking
  • Cloud computing such as AWS, GCP, Azure
  • Linux
  • Video conferencing protocols: SIP, H.323 and WebRTC
  • Test automation and continuous integration

Or perhaps you have experience of none of these but have the drive and curiosity to learn, with an ability to quickly absorb new programming languages, frameworks and technologies? What is important to us is passion for our product and its capabilities, and your ability to enhance them.

If you're keen to experience working for a company with a relaxed, supportive culture and flat structure, comprised of specialists at the top of their field who enjoy true autonomy and flexible working hours, then please apply.

We are based in contemporary offices on the outskirts of Reading, UK and offer a well-stocked fridge, free lunch and drinks, pool table and darts, free parking and a comprehensive benefits package.
