Description

One of the UK's leading energy providers is looking for a certified accountant to work with them on a contractual basis, starting this month. Our client is recognised as one of the Big 6 Energy Providers and have become one of the leading household names across the country. Based in the Sunderland area, this opportunity will offer you great access from all main motorways and gives you autonomy to ensure delivery of the Finance team's objective by working in close collaboration with the management and senior accountants on your team.

With your experience of sales accruals, operating costs and balance sheets you will join a thriving team and provide expert knowledge in financial accounting to ensure accurate delivery of monthly reporting across the group. This is a great opportunity in the Sunderland area for a Finance Accountant to engage in a 6 month contract that boasts an opportunity for growth in the Energy Industry.

What you will be doing:

  • Integrity and assurance of the financial ledgers (sales accruals, operating costs and balance sheet)
  • Delivering monthly and quarterly reporting, formal forecasts, medium-term plans and investment surveys
  • Ensuring accounting policies are successfully implemented and operating effectively across the group
  • Liaising with the Senior Tax Manager to ensure tax compliance
  • Delivery of documentation on the team's key processes
  • The statutory accounts process for the production of accounts under UK GAAP to ensure a smooth audit process and timely completion

What we need from you:

  • Proficient IT skills (Spreadsheets, database, Visual Basic)
  • Knowledge of internal systems (SAP, BOFC)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Accounting qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA). Several year's experience working in industry.
  • Knowledge of both UK GAAP and IFRS, experience of preparing statutory accounts (if applicable) and the confidence to apply them to practical examples is essential
  • Knowledge of accounting policies, processes and systems.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skill
