Description

A local council currently requires a Communications Officer for an initial 3 month contract, based in North London. This role will be paying up to £21.10 per hour via PAYE.

Responsibilities

  • To maintain and improve the council's reputation and public image through the development and delivery of key corporate channels, campaigns, publications and communications projects.
  • To develop, deliver and evaluate key corporate campaigns in support of the council's corporate and strategic priorities.
  • To play a lead role in the development, delivery and evaluation of the council's flagship quarterly publication. As part of this, take the lead on planning, researching and editing all content, including sourcing or commissioning appropriate case studies and photography.
  • Develop and manage online and social media platforms to support and grow engagement with community brand.
  • To be responsible for the co-ordination, production and evaluation of corporate or high level publications such as the Really, Really Useful Guide, the council tax mailing and the school admissions brochure. Ensuring high quality, value for money results, in line with deadlines and corporate frameworks and standards.
  • To support the development and delivery of a social media strategy for the council. As part of this, help to ensure a consistent corporate voice through our own and other's social media platforms, both by acting as a key responder and through training and co-ordinating others.
  • To help monitor social media mentions, coverage and themes, responding as appropriate and reporting back to senior managers, executive managers and departmental officers as required.
  • To help develop, deliver and implement an integrated email marketing strategy for the council, including delivery of the monthly resident's eBulletin.

Experience Required

  • Excellent written communication skills - the role will involve written response to complex matters. The candidate will need to have the ability to investigate a matter and compose articulate and thorough responses to stakeholders.
  • Social media - confident in the use of a range of social media platforms.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating communications strategies, campaigns and projects using the full range of channels and techniques.
  • Experience of developing and producing publications including; planning editorial content, copywriting, editing, layout, design, print and distribution.
