Description
A global telecommunications consultancy are currently looking for an Infrastructure Architect to work on site with an end client based in Amsterdam.This role is a 6-month rolling contract with long term opportunities. The rate is c€550 per day and expenses will be covered for applicants based throughout wider Europe.
Main responsibilities:
- Create and update Data Centre infrastructure architecture and design documents- applicable to new application/server builds, and to expansion of existing capacity
- Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Data Centre infrastructure technologies - relating to Servers, virtualization, storage, cloud technology and logical network configurations.
- Gather technical and business requirements from other technology units and reflect into the design documentation
- Organise design reviews with delivery and ops teams; capture and implement recommendations; gain acceptance & sign-off.
- Engage with projects to ascertain infrastructure requirements and to provide clear documentation/designs.
- Review project documentation/designs to ensure they adhere to guidelines.
- Acting as the lead advocate, expert adviser, and communicator for the portfolio delivery service.
- Handle difficult stakeholders, hold difficult conversations and make difficult decisions
- Recent Industry qualifications or certifications (eg Microsoft, AWS, RedHat or VMware).
- 5 years previous experience in infrastructure architecture and solution design,
- 5 years in Data Centre design
- Server hardware (x86 required, SPARC desirable)
- Server virtualization (VMware, LDOMs, zones, containers)
- Storage knowledge (NAS, SAN, RAID concepts, file storage, block storage)
- Foundation services (automation, monitoring, asset management, security)
- Multi-tenancy concepts (Cisco ACI, Juniper Contrail, VMware NSX)
- Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GDC)
- 5 years in design of server, storage and databases.
- Technical skills in modern data center technologies.
- A solid background in networking including concepts of SDN, IPv4, IPv6, VLANs, subnets, NTP, DMZs
- Experience with databases (eg Oracle, SQL Server) in a High Availability configuration.
- Security concepts, Firewalls, compliancy and ISO .
- Experience of analysing, assessing and resolving complex technology requirements, problems and issues.
