Description
Application Packager - DV Eligible/Cleared - This role requires either Active DV clearance or the ability to apply for it.
Requested Profile
- you will need to package to an agreed standard to allow applications to be shared and supported across organisations
- document the application packaging recipe, unit tests and the requirements of integration to SCCM for application deployment
- as required, download software and patches following the Customer policies for media ingest
- work with the software asset management team for software acquisition and to acquire licences
- with the wider technical team, you'll agree on the application packaging approach, method of deployment, software metering and application access control
- Be responsible for ensuring an adequate software packaging is available raising service requests and chasing others to ensure it remains functional
- Assess packages developed by others with a view to deploy 'as is' to the support systems with no to minimal changes to the package
- provide support for own applications consumed by other departments in addition to our own supported systems
- Raise incidents as required
- Assist with 3rd Line Technical Support to the Customer Systems under support of the Enterprise Desktop Service.
- Assist with Discovery activities on new Systems being brought under support of the Enterprise Desktop Service
- Assist with application incidents to determine root cause and the required resolutions
SKILLS:
Technical Skills:
- Excellent knowledge application packaging for Windows 7 and Windows 10 for both physical and virtual desktops
- Knowledge of application deployment methods and the reasons for each approach available
- Familiar with patching methods including WSUS, standalone and tailored deployments with SCCM
- Knowledge of Windows Lockdown using Group Policy to NSCS/Microsoft SCM Levels
- Knowledge of Microsoft System Centre Configuration Centre Current Branch, Implementation and Support, including OS Deployment, Application Deployment, Patching and Endpoint Protection
- Knowledge of Active Directory Group Policy Objects, including Applocker and Firewall Implementations.
- Knowledge of Troubleshooting using SysInternals tools such as ProcMon and NetMon
- Previous experience for packaging applications for a Citrix Virtualised Desktops
- Experience with Application Virtualisation (App-V)
- Experience with User Environment Virtualisation (UE-V)
- Fault finding using a range of Microsoft tools such as ProcMon
