Description

Systems Engineer urgently required to work in Aberdeen, Scotland for 12 months on a contract basis for a leading global energy trading company.

This is an in-house Level 2 support engineer who typically gets involved in appropriately testing various changes to the infrastructure and application services through the development, test, staging environment and performing post-production testing to ensure technical changes have been correctly applied.

The role involves;
  • Ensuring all technical work is delivered to high standards following WellVantage build & deployment cookbooks and standard operating procedures.
  • Working with the deployment PMs and support engineers to configure equipment for rig deployments.
  • Adheres to the Company change management process in the communication and coordination of changes that impact any Company production computing systems.
  • Production of technical documentation as required.
  • Develop, and implement processes as required to ensure that work is delivered to high standards and review quality assurance processes to enhance performance.
  • Deliver and perform WellVantage deployment for offshore rigs.
  • Maintain and manage WellVantage hardware inventory ensuring operation environment compliance and the evergreening of WellVantage landscape.
  • Provide input to the architecture team on any redesign or engineering work for the solutions being supported.
  • Act as a consultant to identify technical supportability concerns with rig infrastructure.
  • You will facilitate technical training as necessary.
  • Knowledge of fibre and other cabling technology utilised on drilling rigs beneficial.


The ideal candidate will have;
  • 5 years' experience in a wide range of computing, data and telecommunications equipment.
  • Good working knowledge of data networks and associated cabling infrastructures and specifications also required.
  • Experience of working offshore delivering IT services.
  • Hyper-V - deployment experience
  • Windows Active Directory
  • Windows Server 2016 - deployment experience
  • Understanding of Cisco switching and VLANs (virtual local area network)
  • Windows Client operating system machines - deployment experience
  • HPE servers.
  • Cisco Router and switch
  • Firewall configuration experience
  • Valid BOSIET/FOSIET
