Description

Role: Lead Game Designer

Location: London

Rate: £450/day

Duration: 3 months (with possible extension)

Summary

Our client, a well-known Elite Sports Organisation, is looking for a Lead Game Designer to join their team working on a number of exciting projects in the digital space, that go beyond those of the traditional offerings. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Principals, and will be responsible for the concept and design of playful interactive experiences across the various product portfolio. You will work across multiple platforms, using your extensive understanding of game mechanics, player behaviour and feedback to help motivate, engage and reward our audiences. You will work directly with Product Owners and external development partner(s) and hold full responsibility for delivering interactive experiences within each product to the highest possible audio, visual and gameplay quality.

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead game designer across a product portfolio
  • Conceive and design games and playful interactive experiences within existing products
  • Develop concepts for new product proposals
  • Work with product owners, UI/UX designers and developers to take concepts through to release/integration
  • Analyse live user data and adapt products accordingly
  • Remain current on industry trends including new game genres and designs

Keys Skill

  • Extensive experience in a games designer role
  • Demonstrable project leadership experience
  • Solid understanding of game design principles, player behaviours and feedback
  • Strong working knowledge of UI/UX
  • A diverse, high quality portfolio with a track record of published games on mobile and/or console/PC
  • Experience prototyping gameplay mechanics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrable ability to create clear and concise design documentation
  • Experience in an Agile/SCRUM environment
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners/clients

Desirable

  • Experience in VR/AR or physical games
  • Interest in sports and fitness
  • Awareness of/experience working on product aimed at youth markets
