Senior Messaging Engineer (Skype/Microsoft Teams)

Candidate's required/essential experience

  • Self-motivated Messaging and System Administrator (Skype & Teams) with experience of migrating from on premises Skype to Microsoft Teams
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft O365 including the configuration and migration from Skype to Teams.
  • Skype for Business Edge Services implementation for external or mobile client access and Federation
  • Experience of integrating Skype for Business and Teams within telephony systems
  • In-depth knowledge of Audio/Video/Web Conferencing, Session Border Controllers/Gateways, SIP Trunk Configuration, High Availability and Disaster Recovery, Federation, Persistent Chat, Office Web Apps, Firewall Rules, and Monitoring/Reporting.
  • Proficient understanding of technology areas such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, DFS and the ability to maintain other Windows core services.

We are recruiting for a self-motivated Messaging and System Administrator (Skype & Teams) with experience of migrating from on premises Skype to Microsoft Teams for an initial 3 months engagement.

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the technical aspects for the design, configuration and migration within the larger project team, whilst also maintaining, where necessary the existing Skype for Business server infrastructure.
  • Work with our 3rd party to develop the design and undertake the required configuration.
  • Delivery of prerequisites as stipulated by 3rd party.
  • Solution validation testing including troubleshooting and resolution of issues.
  • Manage the migrate users from Skype to Teams.
  • Provide end user support, including participating in walk-through demos of services and technical design.
  • Diagnosis of incidents during the migration, problems and change implementation to include the writing of Change Requests and seeking the required approvals.
  • Interface directly with the end users, project team and 3rd party to provide support.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex problems.
  • Ensure monitoring is in place and co-ordinate results from various parties, network, telephony, Firewalls etc.
  • Undertake knowledge transfer to support teams (1st line, 2nd line)

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of Audio/Video/Web Conferencing, Session Border Controllers/Gateways, SIP Trunk Configuration, High Availability and Disaster Recovery, Federation, Persistent Chat, Office Web Apps, Firewall Rules, and Monitoring/Reporting.
  • Proficient understanding of technology areas such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, DFS and the ability to maintain other Windows core services.
  • Experience implementing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) with Active Directory.
  • Strong knowledge of PowerShell and .NET Scripting.
  • Expert knowledge of networking concepts and technologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft O365 including the configuration and migration from Skype to Teams.
  • A solid understanding of Windows Server , VMware, DHCP, DNS, Outlook, and OWA.
  • Solid knowledge of enterprise messaging.
  • Environments including but not limited to Active Directory.
  • Analytical approach to solve complex problems in a complex, large-scale, and multi data-center environments.
  • Microsoft Certified IP-PBX gateways, eg Sonus,QoS, AudioCodes
  • Understanding of Real Time Communication Protocols, eg SIP
  • Skype for Business Edge Services implementation for external or mobile client access and Federation
  • Experience of integrating Skype for Business and Teams within telephony systems
