JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL DUTIES
Reviewing and approving supplier welding, coating and NDE documentation in accordance with international standards and customer requirements.
Regular liaison with suppliers and customers to discuss & resolve technical issues, manufacturing queries, procurement queries with respect to welding procedures etc.
Assist in the preparation and approval of Procedural Instructions and Codes of Practice.
Providing general support to other materials engineers
Some UK and overseas travel may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum BS/MS Academic background in Materials Engineering/Metallurgy/Welding
Min 5 years' experience in the subsea oil & gas industry working in a materials discipline
Familiar with relevant national and international standards -ASME, NORSOK, DNV, NACE etc.
Must be able to communicate technical issues effectively - verbal and written English.
Must be computer literate.
Must be capable of multi-tasking and working to agreed schedules.
Must proactively drive tasks to conclusion, maintain a full workload and communicate well with Project and team members
PREFERRED
Understanding of consumable anode cathodic protection systems and associated materials issues
Familiar with welding processes and qualification codes and standards.
Familiar with NDT methods & standards (MT, PT, RT,UT)
Familiar with subsea and topsides coating systems
Familiar with working on O&G projects using document management systems and practices.
