My client is a highly-regarded solutions provider. They currently have a pressing need for a junior data scientist in Brussels.
The following skills and deliverables are required:
* Higher education (Master) with a technical/engineering/big data/artificial intelligence background.
* Communication skills and experience with teamwork and project-oriented working.
* Knowledge of business processes in general.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in general business management with application in the IT field.
* Strong communication/analysis skills, with the ability and courage to constructively challenge others.
* Strong abstraction skills, and architecturally conceptually skilled and experienced.
* Proven technical leadership to turn vision into action into concrete results - and proactively promote shared goals and actions (evangelization).
* Specialist knowledge in a specific domain (BI, IoT, Big Data, Analytics) - with proven expertise and experience in setting up Big Data applications/services (including knowledge of tools such as R, Python, data visualization etc.) - as well as a broad knowledge of Data Management (Data Management Body or Knowledge = DMBOK)
* Experience in data processing (eg data mining, social network analysis, text mining ...) and knowledge of data transformation and data preparation techniques.
* Language requirement: Dutch speaking at European CEFR level C2, and English (understanding/writing/speaking)
* Knowledge of MS Office Packages
* Knowledge of the different Project Management facets (costs, timing, coordination, planning, estimates)
* Thorough Knowledge of Business Engineering; being able to propose business solutions that are a good combination of Business and Technology knowledge
This person is responsible for:
* Proactively taking on a Data Ambassador role for the company - through business partnering with other departments (including CDIO team)
* Setting up, supervising and conducting data experiments and use cases for Port of Antwerp - using Data Science Tools.
* Visualize and document insights and relationships of large data sets, and translate this into stakeholders with insight, action and advice.
* Collaboration with other department (s) and pro-active contributions to increase data maturity.
* The collaboration with Dev/Ops teams for the operational aspects of data (eg setting up and providing insight into data SLAs)
* Proactively identify opportunities to simplify business processes and achieve efficiency through effective data management.
The Data Scientist works closely with other departments and internal CDIO team (eg lead designers, data warehouse and BI/Analytics specialists) and is a proactive Data Ambassador for the company.
