Role Summary/Purpose
As a Mechanical Engineer you will be part of a project delivering the mechanical aspects of the development of a Power Distribution System and its entry into production.
Essential Responsibilities
- Mechanical design, determining the production techniques and design concept to meet business objectives
- Work within a team of mechanical engineers to develop complex control panel assemblies and liaison with the electrical engineering team to deliver bus bar design and wiring harness information
- Effective use of prototyping techniques to de-risk the development
- Contributing to the delivery of scope, cost and schedule performance for assigned work
- packages on the project
- Participating in engagement with customers and suppliers
- Working with global and local engineering, manufacturing and quality functions
- Ensure design is in accordance with company and industry standards and processes
Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university/college or similar level of knowledge/experience
- Experience for complex mechanical design for new product introduction, preferably in a
- safety critical environment
- Experience of product design and development activities including design for manufacture and test-methodologies
- Technical expertise of using 3D modelling software and rapid prototyping, preferably
- Unigraphics NX but experience of other industry standard MCAD packages considered
- Working understanding of thermal and structural analysis, particularly of high current electrical assemblies using industry standard tools such as Ansys, Nastran
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
