Job description:

Are you an experienced Accountant, ideally with a knowledge of IFRS17, who can support the implementation of this new standard within a global financial services firm? If so then we want to hear from you!

This is an initial 6-month contract based in Edinburgh.

Core requirements:

Technical skills:

  • Knowledge of IFRS17
  • Knowledge of insurance accounting/actuarial data and data sources
  • Experience analysing and interpreting complex data/technical papers
  • Experience of data impact/gap analysis
  • Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint

Personal attributes/skills:

  • Ability to analyse technical methodology papers and assess impacts on data/accounting
  • Ability to distil complex ideas into simple requirements
  • Ability to deliver defined pieces of work on time as set out in the accounting & data project plans
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively within a busy team
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence effectively with productive, successful relationships
  • Ability to work independently
  • Flexibility to complete tasks required by the programme or work stream as required

Core responsibilities:

  • To review and analyse technical methodology papers to identify new data requirements
  • Organise and present updates to the Quarterly Senior Data working group meetings
  • Actively manage weekly meetings ensuring clear priorities and deliverables for each meeting
  • Organise weekly Data Working Group meetings including preparation of packs/reports/dashboards.
  • Accurately collate output/actions from Data Working Group meetings
  • Own and deliver specific work packages identified by the Accounting work stream
  • Own actions through to completion and confirmation of data points/data sources
  • This will be achieved by working collaboratively with colleagues in other work streams/data working group members to analyse and resolve data issues
  • Provide insight regarding accounting/actuarial data and data sources
  • Develop Data gap analysis and maintain data gap BRAG status and milestones
  • Weekly update of Data Dictionary
  • Assist in raising any new requirements as a result of gaps identified
  • Any other tasks as required by the accounting and data work streams
