Our Central Government client are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer (DV Cleared)
Summary of the work
- Design, build and support a platform for data scientists to query our client's data.
- Technical input to project planning.
- Document architectural designs
- Produce infrastructure as code.
- Develop automated mechanisms for deploying infrastructure and application changes.
- Provide ongoing skills transfer to staff.
- Lead the engagement with external ITHC supplier
Who you will work with
The existing team is made up of a number of engineers & architects covering the full spectrum of big data, cloud infrastructure, security architecture, and business analysis.
You'll also be expected to engage with other teams within the organisation;
- UCFS for systems integration
- Design Authority for design sign-off
- SRE for acceptance into service
- Stakeholder teams, eg data analysts & scientists
You'll also be expected to engage with 3rd party suppliers and auditors (eg IT Health Check teams)
What you will work on
Data ingestion from current service and surfacing of data to the users of the new AWS Data Platform.
Key skills and experience
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of working with the AWS cloud platform
- Demonstrate experience of using Infrastructure as Code to provision and manage any cloud infrastructure using terraform
- Demonstrate experience of using Git and GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket
- Demonstrate knowledge of test and behaviour driven development (TDD and BDD)
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment
- Demonstrate experience of using ConcourseCI to provide continuous integration and continuous deployment
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Demonstrate experience of using AWS CloudWatch
- Demonstrate experience of using AWS Simple Storage Service (S3)
- Demonstrate experience of using AWS Key Management Service (KMS)
- Demonstrate experience of using AWS Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2)
- Demonstrate knowledge of AWS networking
- Demonstrate experience of developing in Python
- Demonstrate experience of using Docker
- Demonstrate experience of analysing and solving complex infrastructure & application issues
- Demonstrate having been involved with or led on an ITHC engagement
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of securely handling sensitive data
- Demonstrate experience of big data; formats, manipulation/conversion, querying, tools etc
- Demonstrate experience of consuming Apache Kafka data feeds
- Demonstrate experience of developing in Go, Java or Node.js
- Demonstrate experience of using AWS Lambda
- Demonstrate experience of using AWS Elastic MapReduce (EMR)
- Demonstrate experience of using AWS Cloud Hardware Security Module (CloudHSM)
- Demonstrate experience of using AWS Cognito
- Demonstrate experience of using AWS Workspaces
