Scala Software Engineer (Big Data)
Job type: Contract, Full time (Inside IR35)
Duration: 7 Months initially
Rate: £450 - £500 daily
Location: Leeds
I am looking for a software engineer experienced in Big Data development to join a fast paced environment, at the forefront of technology. You will be joining an already established team of Big Data Developers.
Required experience:
- It is crucial that you have considerable experience working on a large Big Data project.
- Development experience in either Scala or Ruby is a MUST.
- Strong experience working with Hadoop related tools ie Apache Spark, Kafka, Hive, HBase etc.
- Commercial experience developing with PySpark API
- Experience of both SQL and NoSQL databases
Desirable qualities:
- able to mentor the other junior software engineers on best practices
- able to take ownership of the work and run with it without any supervision
- able to pick up new skills swiftly as there will be some custom tools/libraries used
