Description

Our Defence and Aerospace client has an exciting new role that has been created in response to a growing demand in the Communications sector of their business.

The primary focus for this role will be the management of direct sub-contract commitments, both tangible and intangible in their nature, mainly within the New Product Introduction phase of the product life cycle.

This role will require a demonstrated ability to manage internal and external relationships and will require broad experiences of working cross functionally in a Matrix organisation

The individual will have strong and effective communication skills, with the ability to develop and nurture internal customer relationships, promote customer intimacy and team working.

The role holder will need to demonstrate successful subcontract management by developing robust contracts, which mitigate commercial risk and address life cycle factors whilst fostering and maintaining supplier relationships.

Skills, qualifications & knowledge

  • Requires technical training to degree standard, professional qualification and/or significant domain experience
  • A good working knowledge and understanding of Procurement within the Defence/Aerospace industry (or a similar sector) and ability to apply them with minimal supervision and direction
  • A professional understanding of domain specific markets, products, customers and suppliers
  • A high degree of knowledge of functional specific, and ability to apply them with minimum supervision
  • The ability to create beneficial relationships with cross-functional colleagues, customers and suppliers
  • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders, to resolve conflict and provide value using data and analysis to support line of reasoning
  • A good understanding of the Commercial and Legal Aspects associated with contracting within the Defence/Aerospace industry (or a similar sector)
  • A good understanding of Export Compliance associated with contracting within the Defence/Aerospace industry (or a similar sector)
  • SAP familiarity (or equivalent integrated business systems)

Typical Accountabilities:

  • Lead the delivery of sub-contract management activities and other procurement related services which may be required by the IPT and its constituent projects
  • Performance of complex assignments requiring cross functional collaboration without supervision
  • Promotes customer intimacy in both internal and external relationships
  • Focal point for project and suppliers regarding contract and supply base matters across multiple projects and a variety of business winning activities
  • Ability to balance priorities and manage time effectively
  • Drives and leads strategies to influence business decisions throughout the project life cycle
  • Identify solutions for complex areas of potential risk/opportunity eg sub-contract risk, liability and exchange rate exposure etc. and deliver solutions/mitigations
  • Draft and prepare complex contract documentation using standard and non-standard formats
  • Working cross functionally to review customer contracts to identify appropriate contractual flowdowns and ensure these are flowed down appropriately
  • Work with stakeholders, at all levels, in order to understand Customer requirements and critical success factors
  • An understanding of legal aspects and an ability to negotiate bespoke terms and conditions
  • Management of Export Compliance, restrictions and third party rights for all procured items and services
