Description

Our client is seeking a Sr database Administrator to provide support for assigned enterprise applications and their respective Oracle databases. Applies upgrades and patches to the applications. Troubleshoots and provides functional support and user administration.

Complete Description:

Perform database object migrations in a three-tier environment. 20% - Install, upgrade, and patch all Oracle instances; ensure proper security levels are maintained; tune; clone; and perform day-to day maintenance to ensure a high level of reliability and stability. 15% - Provide assistance to application developers in the effective use of database query and programming languages and work with other department personnel to ensure all activities associated with the Oracle databases function smoothly and efficiently. 5% - Other duties as assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*:

Provides support for assigned enterprise Oracle applications and their respective databases Primarily Production with some non-production environments. Provide functional and technical support for end-users of the assigned enterprise applications, including but not limited to, applying upgrades and patches, ad-hoc querying, data manipulation and managing end user service tickets. Perform troubleshooting and resolution of system issues and providing functional level support to campus end-users. Serve as the liaison between functional users and technical support staff. Maintain records and documentation to meet departmental and audit requirements. Creation of user accounts, assigning security access, and annual review of user accounts to ensure compliance to audit standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES*:

Strong analytical skills, problem-solving skills, customer service skills, and the ability to perform in pressure situations are required. Must have a proven ability to facilitate problem solving among administrative groups with varying needs and priorities, and to communicate well with administrative users, technical staff and senior management. Must have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, in a professional manner, with an emphasis on service quality and have excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to express ideas concisely and clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Knowledge of database management systems, query languages, table relationships, and views. Knowledge of performance tuning tools and techniques. Knowledge of programming language structures and logic. Knowledge of query languages such as SQL (structured query language). Knowledge of system and application security threats and vulnerabilities (eg, buffer overflow, mobile code, cross-site scripting, Procedural Language/Structured Query Language [PL/SQL] and injections, race conditions, covert channel, replay, return-oriented attacks, malicious code). Knowledge of software engineering lifecycle. Knowledge of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data security standards (ie FERPA and HIPAA). Knowledge of application security management. Proven knowledge working with Oracle-based technologies, such as databases and Fusion Middleware Application Server components (Weblogic, Oracle Webtier, Oracle Forms, Oracle Portal, Oracle Access Management, etc.). MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Five (5) years' experience in related field MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW OR INSTITUTION: None
