Description

Lead Developer Location: Den Haag Contract Type: Contracting/Freelance Duration: 6 months (possible extension) Language: Dutch Description: Activities As an architect / lead developer you have a key position in the further development of the Application. The application is a socially important application for Dutch society. Together with the other developers (read: developers and testers of the development team) and the functional designers, you are involved in the further development of the Application, including the production and aftercare (impact on the management and maintenance of the Application). As an architect / lead developer you translate the functional requirements and wishes into practical, technical solutions. You work in close collaboration with the customer, manage the products, monitor and determine the architecture of the Application and you are responsible for the technical release management. The customer uses an Agile development process and uses modern tools to support the Agile process. Profile • Developing good software solutions that meet the needs of the customer of the customer is your passion. • HBO / WO working and thinking level, preferably obtained by completing a relevant education and at least six years of relevant work experience. • Motivated, customer-friendly, solution-oriented and able to work independently as well as in a team. • At least four years of demonstrable work experience with developing software based on Ruby on Rails, as an architect and / or lead developer. • Some knowledge and experience with Javascript, web services, relational databases and Agile / Scrum is required. Clarification 3rd bullet: A lead developer is more than just a good programmer. A lead developer must above all be able to (together with the architects) propagate and give momentum to innovations such as microservices and CI / CD. There are practical differences between the different languages ??/ ecosystems (Java, .Net, JS, Ruby, etc), but also many conceptual similarities. Developers who have actively developed in more than one language are aware of this. The customer thinks it is more important to find a good lead developer who has used Java and at least one other language than a mediocre one who happened to use Java and Ruby. The (learning) reading and understanding of Ruby code is important and something that the lead developer should be open to. If the new lead developer does not / cannot take the lead in maintaining the Ruby code, it makes sense to give another team lead a lead role in this. This must be coordinated with the relevant Product Owner.
