Parity Group are delighted to be engaged with a well-known progressive organisation on a large project and as a result have the need for a Procurment Manager to join their team based in London on a 4 months contract.

Job Summary

  • To assist in delivering a strategic procurement service to Essentia's clients in a variety of non-clinical categories and contribute to the delivery of procurement projects within key markets, ensuring contract compliance, sustainable cost improvements, and a range of benefits to Essentia customers.
  • To meet customer requirements by demonstrating best value for money, through compliance with all contracts, and by actively managing the market place through the development of key strategies for supplier and contract management.
  • To support the Essentia Procurement Team in the delivery of cost and efficiency savings across Essential customers, (and often internally for the organisation'), by analysing current contract spend to support the development of procurement work plans.
  • To ensure compliance, pursuing procurement excellence through the implementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets.

Key Relationships

The Procurement Manager will work closely with external suppliers and other Essentia procurement team members; liaising closely with Service Managers at client organisations, other organisations and internal Essentia Service Managers.

The Procurement Manager will also work closely with the following:

  • Audit
  • Collaborative Procurement Hubs (eg London Procurement Partnership)
  • Crown Commercial Service
  • Finance departments of our clients
  • Members of various Working Groups

Duties and Responsibilities

Professional responsibilities

  • To lead in the timely procurement of appropriately specified goods and services in a pro-active manner taking due account of whole life costs, value for money, contract coverage and environmental considerations. To include assistance with supplier/product selection and evaluation.
  • To promote the use of web-based purchasing solutions used by the team.
  • To carry out procurement projects that are compliant with the organisations client's policies and procedures, the requirements of Standing Financial Instructions and UK/European procurement directives or official guidance.
  • To deal with procurement queries from employees at all levels within client organisations, via a variety of communication channels.
  • To assist the Head of Procurement in working with clients to achieve the aims of their Supply Strategies, in line with the Standing Financial Instructions.
  • To use the range of purchasing tools available to meet the strategic needs of client organisations including negotiating prices, raising official orders on the purchasing system, checking and authorising as required prior to distribution to suppliers.
  • Negotiate and develop good working relationships with suppliers and employees of client organisations.
  • To utilise web-based quotation and tendering systems to help facilitate an efficient and cost-effective procurement service.
  • To provide information as necessary to assist customers with their requirements and to expedite any queries that may arise.
  • To be responsible for identification and management of risk throughout the procurement process.
  • To pro-actively assist with the implementation of annual work plans and departmental objectives through day-to-day activities, liaison with suppliers and attendance at meetings where required.
  • Keep up to date with relevant changing legislation, guidance and environmental bodies, researching and liaising with other Procurement professionals as appropriate to evaluate impact on contracting and procurement

Management and Leadership

  • Provide support and guidance to the Essentia Procurement Team, acting as a subject matter expert.
  • Ensure that effective communication exists at all levels and relevant information is effectively communicated to all members of the team.
  • Motivate and support staff so that they understand the objectives of the service within which they work and are able to maximise their contribution to the highest standard of patient care.
  • To suggest and develop quality and efficiency measures including implementing policies and providing information in regard to Key Performance Indicators.
  • Where appropriate, manage the implementation of systems, control processes and risk management arrangements to support monitoring of compliance with Trust wide policies and best practice.

Education & Professional Development

  • To maintain the professional standards required from a senior procurement officer.
  • Full and current membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) is required.
  • To undertake any other duties as designated by your manager that are consistent with the responsibilities of the grade.
