Description

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation based in Edinburgh, are currently looking to recruit 2 x Investment Directors for initial 6 month contracts on a rate of c.£700-£1000/day (inside of IR35). Due to the current circumstances these roles will initially be based remotely.

Responsibilities:
Lead the origination, negotiation and close of a pipeline of investment opportunities that support the organisation's purpose and missions.
Work closely and collaboratively with Investment Risk colleagues on all investment opportunities from inception.
Work closely with the Partnerships & Engagement team in working with industry and government/other public sector partners in identifying areas where the private sector is not adequately providing finance or investment.
In collaboration with the Investment Risk team and Partnership & Engagement team, identifying and quantifying both financial risks and social impacts, both positive and potentially negative, in all investment opportunities.
Undertake and manage the necessary due diligence, financial modelling, risk analysis and mitigation in the structuring of loans, equity investments or other deal structures.
In the short to medium term, junior resource for the team will be recruited, but as the organisation builds its permanent team, the interim Investment Director(s) will be expected to cover all aspects of deal structuring and delivery.
As junior resource for the team is recruited, managing and training that resource to work effectively.
With the support of internal and external counsel, ensure for all deals that appropriate legal documentation is successfully structured, negotiated and concluded in line with approvals.
Develop strong relationships with the wider financial ecosystem in Scotland.
Develop strong relationships with counterparties across multiple sectors in seeking to deliver investment opportunities in line with the organisation's missions.

Essential Skills:
At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in leading deals in a few of the following investment sectors: innovation and technology SME venture capital; sustainable infrastructure, including but not limited to, the renewable energy sector; project finance; corporate finance; public private partnerships and other similar partnership investment models; social housing; urban regeneration; social infrastructure and economic infrastructure, across the widest definition of infrastructure.
Experience in working within a development bank, or within the public sector would be highly regarded.
Experience in identifying social impacts and ESG reporting would be highly regarded.
The ability to innovate and structure bespoke solutions to help accelerate investment activity in line with the delivery of the organisation's missions.
Degree qualified, in Business Administration, Finance, or related fields.
Professional qualification (CA, CFA or similar)

Desirable Skills:
Knowledge of the specific market factors in Scotland is desirable.
