Linux Engineer
Linux Engineer is needed for a long-term project in Wroclaw, Poland. You will be within a Team that sets the direction and strategy for UNIX Operating Systems in a 20,000+ install footprint. You will join a team engineering the Linux & Solaris Server Operating systems for deployment across the globe.
As a Linux Engineer you will need to design & build solutions to assist with the deployment, authentication & management of these platforms through their life cycle.
Other areas of responsibility:
- Co-ordinate technical implementation amongst a mixed team of on & off shore team members
- Act as an escalation point for 3rd/4th level support issues
- Interface with vendors on support and development/feature improvement areas.
- Co-operate with other groups in engineering on delivery of large scale programs.
- New product evaluation and testing
- Maintain & improve existing deployment and build mechanisms
- Extensive experience (8+ years) of large scale Linux Deployments (RHEL5, 6 & 7)
- In-depth Linuxinternals knowledge
- Experience in the hands-on design and delivery of Red Hat technologies
- Experience of working in a geograhpically distributed team
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Experience of HP & Dell hardware platforms
- Experience working with UNIX Authentication technologies such as LDAP & Kerberos
- Knowledge of SDLC and development methodologies/processes
- Knowledge of methods for quality assurance
- Ability to effectively interact with a range of people throughout the organization of all levels
- Highly proficient in multiple Scripting languages especially Perl/Python
