Description

An NHS Trust is currently looking for a Medical Engineer, for a 6 month contract based in Cambridge, paying up to £16.97 per hour via PAYE or £21.02 per day via Umbrella.

Responsibilities

  • Plan the engineering elements of multi-stranded systems and working a number of these at any one time by ensuing on going supplies, formulating future plans and adjusting them appropriately in line with Trust objectives. Specialties that will need to be addressed will include BMS, HV/LV electrical systems, mechanical systems, building systems, CAFM systems, ground and any other essential service to hospital function and patient welfare.
  • Will be acquainted with general technological developments on matters which may affect or be beneficial to the area of work for which he/she is responsible. The post holder will be responsible for researching and understanding such legislation as well as maintaining on going relevant CPD (eg authorised person for medical gases, HV/LV, legionella, asbestos, etc.). The post-holder will need to have knowledge of current legislation, eg Health and Safety at Work Act, CDM Regulations, Building Regulations, etc.
  • The post holder will be expected to have a good understanding of the relevant NHS guidance and advice, eg Health Building Notes, Health Technical Memoranda, Health Design Guides, etc. The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring that the technical quality and safety of infrastructure under their control are of the required standard. The post holder will be required to ensure contractors under their control have the required Trust induction training prior to working on site.
  • The post holder, alongside the other members of the team, will respond to alarms and equipment failure to repair or escalate as required, to ensure the BMS is operating reliably. This will involve logging jobs onto the CAFM system and quality checking the work on completion

Experience Required

  • Engineering experience in an operational maintenance environment with portfolio to demonstrate proven track record and wide range of expertise, including the efficient management of maintenance staff and activities.
  • Experience of contract and subcontract management with a number of external organisations.
  • Experience of industry standard BMS systems and building controls
  • Specialist knowledge of engineering and infrastructure processes and the impact that they have on the healthcare provision. Particularly considering operation, maintenance and resilience of healthcare premises.
  • In depth knowledge of applicable guidance for example HTM, HBN, HTN and other applicable guidance or best practice.
