LAN/WAN & VoIP Technician - Alcatel PABX/Omniswitch

Duties
Operates and maintains all local fixed VoIP, Analogue and DECT telephony systems (Alcatel PABX 4400)
- Level 1&2 technical support on fixed telephony system hardware and software.
- Provides support to local LAN/WAN services, including infrastructure networking service, secure voice services(Cisco VoSIP) and video collaboration services (VTC).
- Coordinates repair/exchange of faulty telephony equipment.
- Contributes to day-to-day operation of local routing, switching, telephony and wireless infrastructure.
- Undertakes routine installations and de-installations of items of hardware and/or software.
- Takes action to ensure targets are met within established safety and quality procedures, including, where appropriate, handover to the client.
- Troubleshooting of failures/problems/incidents within IT Service Management (ITSM)
- Escalates Incidents to next tier support.
- Liaises with higher tier support for projects, maintenance and procedures.
- Provides input to preventative maintenance plans.
Experience
- Working knowledge and experience on Alcatel OmniSwitch and OmniPCX Cristal hardware;
- Advanced understanding of Voice Over IP (VoIP) technologies and their implementation, protocols and standards;
- Advanced knowledge of Local Area Networks (LAN)/Wide Area Networks (WAN) technologies, Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet protocol (IP) and standards.
- Knowledge of implementing and operating LAN technologies (eg HSRP, STP, Switching, VLANs, VPC, DHCP snooping, ARP Inspection, Port-Security);
- General experience in the installation, testing, integration and programming and configuration of IP/MPLS routing, switched and TDM networks.
- A high level of knowledge of network, system and application level troubleshooting techniques.
- Related field experience in operation, administration and maintenance of digital and IP based telecommunication and transmission systems.
- Working understanding of Microsoft (MS) server and client technologies (VDI infrastructure);
- Working knowledge and experience of CISCO Collaboration technologies.
- Working knowledge and experience of H323 signalling protocols.
