What will you be doing?

As part of a self-steering service delivery team you are responsible for the operation of the Oracle database infrastructure, which is mostly delivered on Oracle Exadata and a small number on commodity hardware. Keeping their environments, standards and documents up to date is part of the job. Products within this environment are Oracle databases (11g & 12c), Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Internet Directory and Oracle infrastructure hardware (Exadata & ZFS).

You will be involved in assisting development of new services & products and making them available to the customers. The department consist of around 35-40 Oracle specialists who day-to-day are working together to deliver the best and most secure service to the customers of the bank. The bank demands high quality, continuity and stability for 7x24. As part of the role you sometimes will need to work outside office hours during standby shifts.

We expect you have good analytic skills and work on continues improvement & automation. You should have a good understanding on the possible impact of changes in the environment and assist colleagues with implementing changes. You are able to work on complex problems on your own, together with the team of DBA's or with other departments like network and datacentre departments. Communication with the suppliers, client departments and other DBA's in the domains is a very important part of your job.

You have a passion for the job and are interested in the development of the Oracle products.

How will you be doing this?

You are an experienced Oracle Database Administrator with general infrastructure knowledge (network, storage, backup and Linux) and will work in a Self-Steering team. Your Database Administrator specialization skills include products such as Oracle ASM, Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard and Oracle Database Vault. Automation of work should be important for you, as this will give you more time to develop in other areas.

Our stack

The bank has a multiplatform environment; mainly Oracle databases (11g and 12c) running on Exadata, but also running on physical Servers. They use Enterprise Edition with options such as Oracle RAC, Oracle ASM, Oracle Data Guard and Oracle Database Vault. manage the complete environment with Oracle Enterprise Manager, which is also used to provide a service to the client departments.

Who are you?

  • You are an experienced Oracle DBA in a complex environment (at least 3 years);
  • You love automation challenges and really like working with a group of Oracle specialists;
  • You get enthusiastic when talking about Oracle products;
  • You like to present and share your knowledge with others;
  • You understand that the "Cloud" will be a very large part of any infrastructure solution;
  • You see the big-picture but like to go in the details to solve complex integration issues;
  • You are a team player who can cooperate with everybody;
  • You like feedback as this is used to improve yourself to become even better.

What skills do you have?
Must have:

  • Excellent knowledge of Oracle Technology stack products, like: Oracle Database 11g &12c, RAC, ASM, Oracle Dataguard, backup & recovery and performance & tuning;
  • Excellent knowledge of Oracle Exadata and ZFS;
  • Good knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c & 13c, Oracle Linux and virtualization;
  • Experience with Scripting (Shell/Perl/Python) and automation (Ansible, Puppet, Git and Jenkins).

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Oracle Internet Directory, LDAP;
  • Knowledge of Networking;
  • Knowledge of Storage configurations;
  • Experience with working in the financial industry.
