Description

We are looking for a Mechatronics Designer who is able to make optimal choices between adding customer value, performance and costs.

The job

In the product development projects of their clients R&D department you take responsibility for a unit or module in their products. Together with a team, you are focusing on mechatronic topics like accurate positioning, media handling, fast and accurate motion or thermal control.

With architects you specify and agree on requirements based on customers demands. After this you are to come up with technical designs and concepts that meet these objectives, properly balancing time, quality, performance, interdisciplinary interactions and taking cost into account.

Within the project you collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines than mechanics and electronics, like Embedded software and also chemistry and physics, who are mainly responsible for the ink and print head development. Together you review the ideas and jointly develop smart creative solutions that meet the overall project objectives. You test and review their model based design(s) by building prototypes to proof the feasibility of the routes you have identified.

In this role there are plenty of opportunities to further develop yourself, eg to team lead, architect or manager.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall design of a mechatronics module
  • Properly cooperate with team members and across teams
  • Create and maintain plan, planning and budget
  • Review technical proposals, manage time, quality and budget as well as the risks and issues in your design
  • Shape the mechanical, electrical and software design and implementation so as to get a robust, accurate and cost effective system

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an all-round mechatronics designer who learns fast and takes responsibility. A flexible team player that likes to work in cross-functional teams, with an eye for strategic level. Besides that, he/she has:

  • Master degree in mechatronics or similar
  • Relevant model-based experience
  • Skilled in Matlab and Simulink
  • Expert in control design, dynamics, and system identification
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written. Profound knowledge of Dutch is a big plus
