Description

The Engineering team have not had a dedicated System Engineer in post for over 10 months. This Level 3 post is essential to ensure effective System engineering practices are adhered to in developing a range of Engineering products, including requirements documents, integrated test and evaluation plans, system and capability architectures, asset life cycle models, policies and engineering management plans. This post is essential to ensure that these products meet customer stated and unstated needs, addressing the unique situation each project faces. A lack of resource has imposed additional burden on remaining engineering team and potentially poses a high risk in delivering strategic and business milestones for Cat A Projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The team delivers a suite of integrated Radar Electronic Surveillance Sensors, Electronic Counter Measure Systems and control systems, as part of the MCS Ships Support acquisition.
The DES Ships MCS-MEWP-SE is accountable for delivery of the MEWSIC and EWCM projects whilst providing support to the wider MEWP programme and Chief Engineer.

The incumbent will be required to build and maintain strong relationships across MOD and industry to deliver the desired outputs.

In delivering these projects the post holder will be required to:
(1) Apply System Engineering methodologies, tools and techniques to generate System Architectures and Requirement definition documents for EW programmes.

(2) Production, acceptance and resultant configuration control of a requirements acceptance procedure (Verification, Validation Requirements Matrix(VVRM) created by industry in accordance with an agreed Integrated Trials Evaluation & Acceptance Plan (ITEAP)

(3) Manage the Technology Strategy and Technology Roadmaps for the nominated MEWP Projects.

(4) Scope technical and technology content within delivery Statements of Works

(5) Ensure compliance of suppliers with relevant Statements of Work(s)

(6) Execution of a Tender down-selection activities based upon the technical deliverables produced by industrial teams

(7) Monitor, manage and report technology and technical risks

(8) Support and manage project phase Engineering activities from concept to delivery including trials planning and management, installation planning, schedule and transition into service management etc.

(9) Lead and management of DE&S GEAR Reviews and Assurance Process for MEWP projects.

(10) Management and Monitoring of project Engineering Management Plans.

(11) Provide support to Requirements Capture including preparation of Systems Requirement

(12) leadership and Staff Management. All staff are expected to work flexibly and be willing to be deployed anywhere in the Operating centre to work on business priorities decided by the Ships Management Board.
