Network Engineer Requirements and Qualifications
•Previous experience in IT, security or systems support, or network administrator positions preferred
•Additional certifications preferred, such as •Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
•Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
•CompTIA Network+
•Retain familiarity with various network types including LANs, WANs, WLANs, SANs, and VoIP networks
•Increase job knowledge through continuing education and professional development opportunities, attend conferences, and read professional industry publications
•Open to being on call outside of regular working hours as well as occasional nights and weekends in the office
•Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
•Ability to perform well under pressure
•Have high attention to detail
•Be a confident communicator
•Work well independently and in team settings
Technical Skillsets:
• Network Routing: OSPF, BGP, and VRF
• Network Switching: VLAN, VLAN trunking, STP, PVSTP, SPAN, VTP, port channel
• IP Services: HSRP, VRRP, NAT, NTP, SNMP, DHCP, WCCP, IP SLA, NETFLOW, and
• Syslog
• Router/ Firewall Mgmt.
• Load Balancer F5/Cisco ACE mgmt.
• Switch Port mgmt. Network Access Control Management
• Wi-Fi & VPN Management
• Backup and Restoration
• Network Security: ACL, TACACS, AAA, Port Security, DHCP Snooping, VPN Technologies, SSL VPN, DMVPN, and Cisco ISE
• Network Management: Solarwinds, Cisco Prime, Manage Engine
• Network Optimization: Cisco QOS and F5 Load balancers
• Core Network Devices: Cisco Catalyst 6500 series, VSS, Cisco 3750, Cisco ACS, Cisco ASA 5585?X, Cisco ASR Router. Nexus
• Certification: CCNA/CCNP certification in Network/Security will be advantage
