We are looking for one "Web GIS developer" to start from ASAP/July an initial 60 w/day contract for an international Org' -client in ROME, where ON-/OFF-site work is possible. Possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability. English speaking environment. Our client is an international organisation in Rome and a great reference in any CV!
Our client is a world-famous international organisation in Rome and has setup an Enterprise GIS system, using open source tool (QGIS, PostGRE/GIS, Geoserver, Geonode, OpenLayers, Leaflet, etc.). A number of external data sources are currently in use for this particular project, targeting remote areas (using travel time accessibility data), poverty data, water risk (flood and drought risk). As a results a number of vector, raster and statistical data need to be published into interactive dashboard Web GIS system for easy use of high level decision makers and the open public.
A Web GIS developer with hands-on experience in GIS and with knowledge of context in Agricultural Development is needed to assist the design and development of Web GIS Dashboard application:
TASKS
- Familiarize with the current GIS infrastructure.
- Assist and advise in the selection of final technological stack.
- Assist in setup development and production environment, based on the selected technological stack.
- Advise on data structure, based on the processed data for our client project areas, country boundaries and selected set of indicators (based on vector, raster and statistical data).
- Development of a stand-alone Web GIS application, with dashboards functionality, possibilities for 3D globe visualization and interactive filtering of data based on map extent. Options to link video content, pictures and static maps.
- Assist on the security of the web application, including review and mitigation of independent penetration security test.
- Provide technical documentation on the setup.
- Any other duties, relevant to GIS functionality as required.
SKILLS
- Proven experience in the area with at least 5 years of work experience in Web GIS (please indicate minimum two reference projects/links of Web GIS dashboard applications in the CV).
- Proven experience in PostGRE/PostGIS/Geoserver/Geonode/GDAL/Open Layers/Leaflet (or equivalent Front End GIS frameworks).
- Good knowledge and usage of modern JS frameworks such as Angular, React, Vu?.
- Good knowledge of responsive frameworks such as Bootstrap.
- Ability to produce technical documentation.

- Applicants must have an EU passport or a work permit for Italy.
- The latest deadline for this WebGis position is on the 30th. It's is not clear yet, how long someone needs to work onsite in Rome. The Client offices in Rome are re-opening slowly due to Covid. The IT-team is still working remote. We don't expect long on-site presence, if any.
