Description

We are looking for a Catatrophe Modellong Assistant to primarily assist in the data entry and collation of aggregates for the Marine & Aviation Business Unit working within the Underwriting Modelling function. To provide aggregate support to members of the Marine & Aviation Business Unit's underwriting teams as applicable. To assist with modelling requirements within the Reinsurance and Property and Casualty business as required. To assist analysts in quarterly management reporting.

Dimensions

The role will stretch across the various classes of business within the Marine Business Unit as business needs dictate. There may additionally be some requirement for modelling work within the Reinsurance and Property and Casualty business areas. The role requires RMS RiskLink and some SQL experience. The candidate will need to be able to work independently, and perform routine tasks including data entry and pricing but can process more complex risks with guidance. Capable of adhering to existing modelling procedures.

Key Result Areas.

  • Operational - Entry of data and provision of aggregate reporting, including interpreting slip information accurately for modelling. Develop and adhere to agreed service levels. Participate in the production of management reports and information.
  • Compliance - Conduct themselves at all times in accordance with the Company's Business Ethics Policy. Participate in the monitoring of compliance. Ensure that management standards are maintained and bring to the attention of line management any areas of potential deficiency.
  • Management Information - Ensure aggregate systems are maintained and liaise with brokers and underwriters where necessary to achieve this. Ensure that aggregate records are maintained to a satisfactory standard. Participate in the production and development of management reports and information. Assist in monitoring actual exposures against aggregate limits agreed with the Divisional Underwriter/Underwriting Manager. Support analysts in completion of quarterly reporting, helping with movement analysis, and report generation.
  • Personnel - Ensure own development and knowledge remains up to date. Participate in the Modelling Catastrophe Curriculum - the in-house educational programme specifically designed to training employees in cat modelling.
  • Monitoring - Remain alert to developments affecting underwriting modelling. Participate in audit and review processes.
  • Customer Relations - Assist with maintaining existing client and broker relationships, dealing with enquiries in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Other - Take part in project work as necessary.

    • Developing tools and analyses to facilitate portfolio management;
    • Creating modelling processes;
    • Bringing clarity, transparency and understanding to the users and clients of catastrophe modelling;
    • Maintaining robust standards and knowledge of best practice in catastrophe modelling.
    • Developing relationship with underwriters
