Job Description

Our award winning client and previous winner of The Times Top 100 places to work requires a qualified/experienced and fibre optic splicing engineer to work on an ongoing FTTP project for an initial 12 months+. The initial part of the role will be rodding and roping and fibre cabling building the back bone of the network.

You will be part of a two man team working out the best options of delivering the back bone either under ground or over head. The role will progress over time into potentially visiting people ' s homes and a variety of businesses across the island delivering excellent customer service in everything you do.

You will also have experience of working on the following: Fibre Optic cable preparation for the jointing and termination of fibre optic cables. Undertake the jointing of various fibre optic cables such as single fibre drop cable to customer premises. Jointing of cables from 12F up to 144F. Jointing and laying out of splitters within new and existing joints. Splicing and dressing of ODF's and termination panels. Dressing of patch cords between ODF's, termination panels and existing hardware.

Key skills:

Strong experience in working on both existing live and new networks including pre-ducted infrastructures, buried cables and overhead networks.

Experienced in rodding and roping of existing duct infrastructures.

Experienced in pulling in back bone cabling and drops to customer premises including termination.

Experienced in both Underground and Overhead cabling installation techniques and systems.

Experienced in dealing with customer/business installations on a daily basis.

Carryout OTDR/OPM testing on back bone and distribution cables including testing via the splitters.

Carryout fault finding on the fibre network as necessary using either OTDR or a visible light source etc.

Experienced in updating on site plans to as built documentation as required when installations require modifications.

Any experience of typical British Telecom Cabinet E/D side installation of copper jointing and fault finding will be seen as extremely advantageous.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Recognised Fibre Optic City and Guilds jointing courses such as.

Fibre Optics Multi Mode City & Guilds 3466.

Fibre Optics Single Mode City & Guilds 3466.

Fibre Optics City & Guilds 3667

Copper Cabling City & Guilds 3667

Registered with the Street Works Qualifications Register for NRSWA Unit 2 Signing,

Lighting and Guarding.

Current recognised working at heights certification.

Personal requirements

Due to current Covid restrictions you will have to isolate for 2 weeks. There will be an allowance for this period and food deliveries taken care of.

Willing to potentially relocate for potentially 12 months to one of the British Crown dependent Islands off the UK mainland.

Will be used to working in a fast paced and changing environment

Will be a flexible team player and yet able to take the lead when required.

Have a strong positive attitude and excellent rapport and people skills at all levels
