Actuary needed for Longevity (Annuities)
I'm currently working with an insurance company who are in search of an Actuary to join their team on an initial 6 month contract. This role is working initially in a team of three (two Actuaries, one Data Engineer), this project is to onboard longevity deals onto a recently completed suite of administration systems. The business line is Longevity (annuities). Each deal represents a large final salary pension scheme, with tens of thousands of pensioners already in receipt of monthly payments.
The project team will program the new systems to recognize and understand incoming data from our clients (insurers), verify and consistency check the information presented, and output data to actuarial teams for analysis and accounting teams for payments. The key responsibility of the Actuaries will be to understand the benefits payable to the pensioners, to manually create target cashflows and experience analysis data, and finally verify the accuracy between those target outputs, and the outputs from the newly populated systems.
Experience needed
- Basic Qualifications: Qualified Actuary
- Knowledge and understanding of UK annuities & benefit profiles
- Experienced SQL user
- Excellent technical and analytical skills
- Ability to model financial products (particularly escalating annuities)
- Ability to unpick complex nested formulae from Excel
- Ability to tailor existing Excel macros
- Strong data analysis skills
- Project Management
- Strong written and verbal communication (English) and comprehension
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Good team-working and collaboration skills
- Ability to work to hard milestones and deadlines
- Ability to adjust to varying or unexpected changing conditions and priorities
