You'll be working as a Senior Java Engineer on one of the UK's top 40 E-commerce websites creating features and solutions
Previous experience of working for a an E-commerce business would be much preferred.
The environment is agile Kanban and Scrum and you'll be working in cross-functional team. Culturally this major brand has retained a start-up feel to the place which nurtures collaboration. It's pretty laid back.
A one stage interview will take place over Zoom after completing a Github task. The contract will start 100% remotely for all of Q4 at least. When it is safe to go back on-site (whenever that may be) you'll still enjoy some flexible homeworking. Candidates would therefore need be based in the UK.
The tech stack has the following technologies: Java 8+/11, Scala, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL. Stack has both monolith/old parts, as well as new parts. The key skill is Java 11 development. We'd look at Java 8 commercial experience but you'd need to understand and be familiar with Java 11 features. Scala and Elasticsearch experience would be nice to haves.
The initial contract runs until Xmas and subject to budget approval could extend into next year.
We've worked with this business for more than 8 years and we've engaged a number of freelancers previously who have loved working there.
We're looking for someone who could start on or before 1st October until 23rd December initially and then extend in the new year.
You'd also need to engage via an Umbrella Company rather than a Limited Company from day one as off-payrolling reforms have been brought forward by this business already.
