*SQL Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - Contract - Camberley*

6 Month Rolling Contract

The company is one of the world's leading financial institutions, serving individual consumers, small and middle-market businesses and large corporations with a full range of banking, investing, asset management and other financial and risk management products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tools, automations and self-healing to improve the operational consistency, reliability and scalability of our global database infrastructure; reducing toil and increasing efficiency
  • Collaborate with our Design, Build and Operate DBA teams to achieve the above across all lines of business
  • Drive standardisation of processes and approaches across all DBA teams
  • Clearly document what you develop for both easy end user understanding and ongoing support of the code
  • Involvement with incident management and response
  • Identify sources of instability in distributed systems and drive operational excellence
  • Developing metrics and dashboards

Essential Skills and Experience

  • SQL Server (minimum 7 years), including some operational support
  • Scripting, eg PowerShell
  • Programming, eg Python, C#
  • Ability to multi-task across different projects and prioritise against tight deadlines
  • Strong collaboration and communication (written and verbal) within a team and across multiple teams
  • Effective root cause analysis

Desirable Skills

  • ITIL incident, problem and change management
  • Automation frameworks
  • Agile methodology
  • Banking/finance experience
  • Tableau
  • Foglight database monitoring
