We require User Researchers with GOV.UK experience to initially work remotely, new projects expected October 2020.
We are undergoing a a major digital transformation programme to make tax easier - enabling customers to do more online and in Real Time, wherever they are. To do this, we need a team of outstanding people to create and run these new digital services and who understand the web, technology and people.
As a User Researcher you will:
- work to generate the feedback and insight that service teams need to build a clear picture of their users and deliver solutions that they need
- support service managers by generating new and useful user insights and translating it into features and actions that will allow them to improve by iteration
- be experience in using a variety user testing methodologies to reveal actionable customer insights
- have excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- have the ability to quickly develop recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative evidence
- be confident in explaining user needs to civil servants, acting as a persuasive advocate for the needs within the team and the wider department
- be comfortable working with data, from gathering and analysis through to design and presentation
Essential skills:
- Demonstrable knowledge, experience in and passion for web user-centred design practices
- Proven experience of gathering user requirements and for web based services
- Proven experience of managing, executing and analysing usability test sessions
- Proven experience of working in an agile development environment with user experience teams, designers and developers to create new digital products and services
Desirable skills:
- Degree in HCI/usability/cognitive psychology/market research or a related field
- Experience working web content, tools and transactional services, especially those with complex user journeys
- Experience within a research and digital environment
