AIX Engineer - (UNIX - Data Centre - VMAX) - Telford - 6 months

Our client, a market leading multi-national technology company are looking for a AIX Engineer, to join them on a customer based project based in Telford. The assignment is an initial 6 month contract and can offer a competitive daily rate.

Role Overview:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out 2nd/3rd line UNIX Support.
  • A major part of the role will involve covering the expected demands of migrating 300+ UNIX Servers from VMAX1 storage for the client.
  • As the role will be supporting a Public Sector customer some travel to customer sites around the UK may be expected over the duration of the assignment.
  • A national security clearance is required for this role but candidates not holding this level of clearance will be considered.

Key Skills For This Role:

  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate prior experience of implementation/support at 2nd/3rd line level
  • As you will be responsible for support, experience with AIX and UNIX Scripting is key
  • You should also have excellent experience with AIX System administration (AIX 7.X or 6.X)
  • The role is AIX focussed, however experience with VMAX migrations and data centre is essential.
  • You must also have experience working with Storage, Networking and Cloud computing technologies.

Desirable Skills:

  • The client are interested in speaking with candidates who can demonstrate experience of the following;
    • AIX
    • UNIX
    • VMAX
    • 2nd/3rd Line experience
  • A national security clearance is required for this role but candidates not holding this level of clearance will be considered.
