Description

This position will play a key role in the support of a variety of innovative, accreditable, cost efficient and profitable solutions which comply with HMG's security classification system. These solutions are operated at the company's premises in Staffordshire and are the foundation for the Company's secure managed ICT services to MoD and other public sector customers.

The role encompasses the following key areas to meet the Company's agreed strategic objectives:

Design Support: Support the design and development of new company products, where appropriate documenting high-level and low-level designs, build scripts and maintenance processes.

  • Research & Development: Support the test and development of new technologies to facilitate system design and product management.

  • System Installation: Build and install secure managed ICT Services delivering a range of technologies to meet the needs of current customers and future markets.

Responsibilities

  • Design Support:

  • To feed your Hyperconvergence & virtualisation knowledge into the design process, including participating in reviews, and documenting relevant design patterns.

  • Contribute (mainly in virtualisation) to the development, evaluation and implementation of the Company's Technology Roadmap.

  • Assist in the production of virtualisation design and documentation where appropriate.

  • Product Development:

    • To conduct research into Hyperconvergence, virtualisation & storage products and solutions.

    • Assist in building and integrating appropriate prototypes and technology demonstrators.

    • Support the development of build and test facilities.

  • System Installation:

    • Build, install and configure managed virtualised ICT services in line with the company's product set and customer requirements.

    • Conduct the technical day to day relationship with internal customer service teams and 3rd party supplier interfaces.

    • Ensure all appropriate installation documentation is produced.

Qualifications/Experience

An excellent understanding of some or all of the following hyperconvergence technologies

Dell VxRail

  • VMware Cloud Foundation on VxRail

  • EMC Storage

Nutanix

  • AHV, ESXi, Hyper-V

  • Prism

  • Acropolis

  • HPE Simplivity

  • ESXi, Hyper-V

  • OmniStack

A good understanding of some or all the following (would like to have)

VMware Data Center Virtualisation Technologies (VCP-DCV a definite advantage)

  • vSphere/ESXi

  • vCenter

  • vSAN

  • vCloud/vRealize

  • VMware Network Virtualisation & Security (NSX)

Storage Technologies (Block, File & Object)

  • Storage Area Network (SAN) Architecture

  • iSCSI Protocol

  • Fibre Channel + (FCoE)

  • Network Attached Storage (NAS)

Networking (Cisco, Juniper, Palo-Alto etc)

  • LAN/WAN Switching & Routing (CCNA/CCNP)

  • Physical Networking (cabling & installation)

  • Network Security (Firewalls, IDS etc..)

  • Network Storage Configuration (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, VSAN etc..)

General Sysadmin Technologies

  • OS (Windows Server 2K16/2K19, CentOS & Linux in general)

  • Applications & Services (Active Directory, Messaging & Collaborative Software)

  • Backup/Restore Software

  • Systems Management Tools (AD, WSUS etc..)

  • Configuration Databases

  • Mobile Device Management and Virtual Private Networks

  • System audit and analysis

  • Exchange Server

  • SQL Server

  • Mobile Device Management (preferably Airwatch)

  • Enterprise Antivirus (preferably McAfee)
