The Product Manager role will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the PPE supply team to develop and execute effective commercial strategy and operational policies for securing supply, promoting innovation, and driving quality. Working closely with colleagues across the end-to-end PPE function, the role will:
Work directly with the Senior Product Manager to support the design and implementation of a robust and forward-looking product category strategy and proactive product development plan using deep product knowledge, that uses the full range of supply-side, demand-side, make, buy and innovate levers.
Working with a range of data, facts and situations often requiring detailed analysis and interpretation making rapid decisions on the most appropriate approach.
Support reforms and organisational change initiatives and encourage the uptake of initiatives that support excellence.
Support in developing and championing new products, initiatives or projects as necessary, and be flexible to rapidly absorb new scope and demand requirements.
Works closely with technical assurance & regulatory teams across the PPE function to recommend changes to present and future products by reviewing specifications and requirements; appraising new product innovations and/or supplier offers and/or opportunities for re-use.
Preparing return-on-investment analysis; establishing time schedules with PPE focussed or novel suppliers, manufacturers, and logistics teams.
Support the Senior Product Manager to determine new product pricing, undertaking analysis using experience and market research; working with demand planning to anticipate volumes and end-to-end costs.
Proactively identify opportunities for improving business outcomes and enhancing benefits, looking to continuously improve the quality, capability and efficiency of PPE products.
Establish and maintain relationships across the end-to-end PPE process, and ensure critical interfaces (eg into Planning, and Logistics) are documented, transparent and well managed.
Key to successful delivery will be collaborative working, strong communication and interpretive and constructive thought, along with a thorough understanding of project planning and organisation.
Support the wider PPE team to deliver and execute and work with virtual teams (eg in-country sourcing, Trust customers) to gather PPE product intelligence, and in-country market expertise.

Operational:

To support the vision for the product(s) and engage teams and stakeholders in the development of that vision over time.
To support the prioritisation process for the product development team by creating and maintaining a product backlog, which balances immediate user needs with the long-term investment in development and overall business benefits.
To support the creation of roadmaps, release plans and life cycle plans for the delivery and maintenance of PPE product(s) from inception right through to retirement.
To liaise with the Regulatory function, Technical Assurance team and the Suppliers to ensure that the overall quality of the product is in line with NHS quality and statutory standards.
To support to develop a specific product development and innovation programme for defined categories/products.
To support the Senior Product Manager in the delivery of cost and efficiency savings, by analysing current product spend, cost, market and supplier information and data.
Support the approval process of any new products specifications
To support the established local Product Evaluation Groups to evaluate products and fast track product rationalisation decisions and to represent NHS customers and focusing on their needs throughout the delivery process.
To ensure processes are in place so that effective, collaborative equipment purchases, clinical quality trials, and long term plans allow for standardisation using evidence and innovation.
