  • Technical Writer/Technical Author
  • £350 - £400 per day
  • 6 month contract
  • Role based in Belfast
Technical Author/Technical Writer required for this global pioneering technology company that enables the connected IoT (Internet of Things). You will be working on the side of the business that undertake the development and deployment of server technologies. Target deployment provides both cloud (private and public) as well as on-prem solutions.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Technical Author/Technical Writer who wants to work on ground breaking technology. You will need to be curious about the products and how they are designed. You must have excellent writing skills with a detail-orientated, quality-driven approach.
As the Technical Author/Technical Writer you will develop technical content in collaboration with product development, support and deployment teams. This involves talking to the project teams and by deriving information from internal information sources and your own investigations.
What you will be responsible for:-
  • Create and maintain fit-for-purpose technical content to support different technical users of the company software, in any of the following forms:
  • concept, task and reference information by different content creation tools.
  • autogenerated from source code.
  • web or video tutorials.
  • Work with engineers, product managers, customer support, and sales to gather requirements and plan content deliverables.
  • Perform content reviews with other information developers, engineers, and product stakeholders, and implement improvements to content.
  • Ensure content adheres to the company's writing and information architecture standards.
  • Effectively switch between content projects with minimal impact to milestones or content quality.
  • Work to improve and implement processes and best practices.
Job requirements:-
  • Ideally you will hold a degree in a relevant subject; Computer Science, Electronic engineering, English, Information Development or Comparative Linguistics
  • You will need to have extensive experience in Technical Communications or Information Development
  • Ideally have some of the following technical skills; Content development tools, Graphics/video tools, Markdown, HTML, interactions between hardware and software, software development, Embedded programming, Linux distributions, experience in the telecoms industry and C, Java or JSON
  • Strong track record or writing for global audiences
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language.
  • Excellent understanding of the documentation production cycle and user assistance production cycle.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent customer focus and results orientation.
  • Self-starter and able to work from own initiative with sound judgement and clear decision-making attributes.
  • Standout colleague with ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Flexible and pragmatic in approach.
  • Creative, dynamic thinker, open-minded with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Enjoys learning about new technologies and standards.
