Senior Interaction Designer
Leeds
£575 p/day (In Scope of IR35)
We are representing a leading public sector organisation who are seeking an experienced Interaction Designer on a 6 month contract basis.
As a Senior Interaction designer, you will specialise in designing interactions and interfaces for digital services and work on all levels of the service, from high-level flows and journeys to the fine detail of individual parts.
You will also work with different types of content and user-led interactions and work across digital and non-digital channels focusing on making working software, rather than creating artefacts to describe software.
Duties:
. Understand user needs and design services that meet them
. Share your specialist knowledge and experience with others in the team
. Support discussions at a senior departmental level
. Design user-centred interfaces and transaction flows
. Define elements - layout, design patterns, controls and actions
. Define visual priorities - what needs to be obvious, what needs to be easy, and what needs to be made possible
. Create and rapidly iterate prototypes to help the wider team learn about user needs for different scenarios or tasks
. Contribute to designing interaction patterns and standards, looking for common features across services
. Contribute to cross-government interaction design patterns
. Play an active part in the department's product design community
Required skills in/experience of:
. Working from a digital perspective
. Sketching, prototyping and iterative design
. Working in a multidisciplinary team
. Using a user-centred design approach
. Explaining design decisions and communicating ideas in a way that other people understand
. Leading workshops
. Being able to help the design process work effectively
. Knowing how to plan user research
. Interpreting research and data
. Handling constructive criticism of your work
. Putting forward the case for design to senior stakeholders and product owners
. Working at pace within an agile environment
