Content Designer - OUTSIDE IR35, GDS - Digital Services

As a Content Designer on the project, your role is to create, review, develop and update content for transition to the single website iterating the website's content proposition as you go.

As part of an in-house content design team you will work closely with product, user experience and technical team members, translating their designs into content that provides a simple and intuitive journey for each type of user. You will take ownership for ensuring content meets GDS standards.

You will collaborate with other content designers across the clients organisation to build a centre of excellence as well as common style guides and patterns for all the clients digital content

Essential

  • You will have worked in an agile digital delivery team, managing your workload to accommodate competing priorities.
  • Experience of editing and creating content for digital services to meet user needs.
  • A solid background of working with senior management and heads of department.
  • Clear experience of working with branding, house style and tone of voice.
  • Extensive copywriting, editing and proofreading experience across all formats including print and online publications and web content.
  • You will have a track record of advocating best practice in online communications within an organisation going through the transition onto modern web platforms

Skills:

  • You will have strong editorial skills and are able to simplify complex content.
  • User centred content design: you will have proven experience in designing content to meet user needs
  • Experience of working with GDS design patterns and delivering content that meets the GDS service standard
  • Experience of both public sector and business working environments would be an advantage, as would experience of working with technical content.
  • You will be able to work autonomously and create effective content for digital channels.
  • User focus: you will understand users, identify who they are and what their needs are based on evidence.
  • Stakeholder management: you will have proven ability to build strong relationships at senior levels. You will be able to persuade senior stakeholders to allow you to publish content which uses simpler language and meets user needs.
  • You can keep a calm head under pressure with a solution approach to solving challenges
  • You are flexible and innovative.
  • You are a team player and have strong interpersonal skills.
  • You have an excellent attention to detail.
  • You are self-aware and have a high level of professionalism in anything you create.
