APPLICATION SOLUTION ARCHITECT

£500 - £600 Per Day

Outside IR35

Overview:

The Application Solution Architecture service supports the Solution Management team providing subject matter expertise on the integration of applications and services into NSoIT(D).

The Application Solution Architecture service is responsible for:

  • Working with the Solution Design Authority to develop and refine NSoIT(D)'s technological roadmap and High Level Design (HLD).

  • Working with the users to understand the how they exploit the application or service to meet their business requirement.

  • Determining the interoperability, dependencies, and interactions between the NSoIT(D) software environment and the applications and services.

  • Determining the interoperability, dependencies, and interactions between the between applications hosted on NSoIT(D) and those on other IS.

  • Determining the requirement for any external interactions, both physical, ie peripherals, and logical, ie information that requires impexing.

  • Developing, architecting, and documenting NSoIT(D) Intermediate Level Design (ILD) application solutions for the Development team to implement, ensuring their coherence across the NSoIT(D) solution and compliance with applicable standards and policies.

  • Working with stakeholders and the Solutions Team to develop, architect, and document technical patterns for common problems.

  • Working with the Solution Engineers to ensure that the design intent is being realised.

  • Reviewing and approving Low and Detailed Level Design (LLD and DLD) solutions and supporting artefacts.

  • Conducting product assessments for all applications and services, including any application specific peripherals.

Essential skills:

  • Detailed understanding of application solution architectures with at least 3 years demonstrable experience, advanced knowledge, and understanding, within the last 5 years, of the development, design, and capture of application and service solution architectures.

  • Excellent knowledge of current and emerging applications and services, particularly those that support the operational user.

  • Excellent communication skills with diverse and adverse audiences

  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.

  • Hold a current SC clearance and be prepared to undergo DV clearance.

  • Competent in MS Office Suite.

Desirable skills:

  • Working within the public sector, preferably Defence, and ideally with Defence Digital (formerly ISS).

  • Delivering accredited secure solutions within the UK Public Sector.

  • Delivering in Agile (SAFE4) and Waterfall projects.

  • Working with international partners, including NATO, to deliver multinational interoperability.

  • Knowledge and experience of NATO and UK C4ISR applications and services.

  • Knowledge of the Atlassian toolset (JIRA and Confluence) to record and document work.

  • A Computer Science university-based education at Bachelors or Masters level.

  • Chartered Engineer Status.
