As an Innovation Engineer, you will work on the design, development, and implementation of new systems and methodologies that will leverage, but are not limited, to Infrastructure as Code, Containers, Cloud, Blockchain, Quantum Computing, Big Data, Knowledge Graphs, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team within GSK's R&D Technology with experience in Entrepreneurship, Data Science and High-Performance Computing. Our members are passionate about technology innovation. Some hold multiple PhDs, have worked in Silicon Valley (California) and at the IBM TJ Watson Research Centre (New York) for the US government. We have consistently delivered excellent results on mission-critical problems using scalable expertise and bleeding-edge technologies and methods. GSK leadership is leveraging us to ideate, create, and productionize novel, ground-breaking, high-value solutions for increasingly complex and critical challenges.

You need to have a Master in disciplines like Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Computer Science. We expect that you will be able to work independently, if necessary, but also be a good team player to collaborate in the development and integration of solutions for our most challenging projects.

A vital skill for the Innovation Team is rapid prototyping of user interfaces, through common libraries and frameworks just as Javascript, React, Material. This is key when engaging business stakeholder to better articulate the value of systems and our deliveries.

You should have a broad understanding of security best practices, secure token exchange flows, hardware and software configuration for meeting data privacy regulations and industry standard methods for hashing and encryption. Extended knowledge of emerging data security concepts such as ABAC and SSI is preferred.

You should understand effective API architectures, including selection of push or pull design, data schema definitions and enforcement, and effective caching and expiry. An understanding of event driven system design is preferred, and where FIFO or other queuing paradigms are appropriate.

You should have a high-level understanding of the main database architectures; relational, object, distributed, document and graph. The benefits and correct use-case for each and have experience in the implementation in the delivery of at least two of these.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
Master in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or Computer Science
Minimum 7 years as a Full time Software Engineer or 7 years as Site Reliability Engineer
Minimum 7 years in design, implementation and productionalisation of large-scale enterprise systems
Minimum 3 years in Cryptography/Cyber Security connected to REST API design and development
Minimum 3 years in Infrastructure-as-Code experience: Terraform, Ansible or Cloud templates
Expertise with container technologies: Kubernetes, Helm and Dockers
Professional DevOps experience: Jenkins, Azure DevOps, CI/CD or Junit
Experience operating in a highly regulated and secure environments
