Summary:
The Lead Agile Delivery Manager is an experienced agile practitioner who exemplifies what good looks like across the delivery roles. They act as a servant-leader and will work with and guide cross-functional teams, managing programmes and ensuring they are commercially viable and deliver value. They have experience of developing delivery roadmaps, digital strategy, solutions, software engineering, business operational process design, user research, user experience design and aspects of policy development to help manage and set the pace for delivery. They will help drive and establish the vision and the strategic delivery roadmap working with the most senior stakeholders. They will ensure funding for their projects/programmes and help establish effective and appropriate governance across all projects in the practice. They act as a mentor and an expert on agile best practices both internally and externally and help establish a network of agile delivery managers across government departments to share knowledge and best practices.

Responsibilities:
1. Mentors and coaches high performance teams to help them continuously improve, share information set standards to deliver the most complex and high risk projects and programmes
2. Defines metrics to enable teams to track their progress, their goals and understand areas for improvement
3. Establishes a culture to help create a safe and supporting environment for all teams, encourages experimentation and makes failure a safe part of learning.
4. Leads by example, acting as a servant-leader, demonstrate the right behaviours. Deals with conflict and helps establish a team culture that allows for constructive criticism
5. Owns and builds relationships with all senior stakeholders utilising appropriate and effective governance mechanisms. Manages team dynamics and uses their influence across the stakeholders to help drive complex programmes through ambiguity or periods of high risk.
6. Ensures that projects and programmes deliver business value and are commercially viable
7. Works with the senior technology and business stakeholders to define the vision and the accompanying delivery roadmap to ensure that new products & services can be delivered with measurable benefits
8. Drive the creation of the business case for complex projects and programmes. Establishes good practices to be followed when building and maintaining a business case
9. Design, facilitate and lead workshops, meetings with senior stakeholders, driving and influencing strategic decisions and outcomes, helping establish the pace of delivery
10. Manage risks, issues and dependencies (external and internal) for complex programmes and coach other members of the agile delivery community to help them manage risks and issues effectively
11. Drives the pace of delivery across projects and programmes, responsible for owning key blockers till they are resolved and guiding other members of the delivery community to help them deliver effectively
12. Manage external assurance groups are appropriately engaged and aware to enable them to avoid any risks related to formal approvals
13. Ensure funding is in place for all programmes and projects, and set the standard for tracking spending and forecasts
14. Sets the standard for agile events across complex, high risk projects or programmes often delivered by multiple teams, ensuring business and delivery teams are working to a common objective and vision to deliver specific outcomes
15. Take responsibility for their own learning and development, adopt or adapt agile principles, methods and tools to help further build the knowledge and skills of the agile delivery management community
16. Establish standards of agile practices for the agile delivery manager community, continuously improve the agile methods and tools used by the community
17. Manage relationships at a senior level with suppliers, responsible for acting as an escalation point to resolve commercial issues
18. Communicating with impact across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, tailoring messages to ensure that it is right for the audience. Present to large audiences with confidence
19. Take an active role in supporting the agile community, Present at internal and external events, be regarded as the expert in agile delivery and identify best practices. Be an advocate for agile delivery methods across the department and act as an agile coach within DWP.
20. Establish and nurture a culture of working in an agile manner utilising agile delivery principles
