AIX SPECIALIST/AIX CONSULTANT/AIX/Linux/MIGRATION/REMOTE (CLIENT BASE NOTTINGHAM)/£/DAY Umbrella
REED Technology are working with a public sector client in Nottingham who require an AIX specialist to join their team and support the organisation on any AIX platform related queries/fixes. The organisation are looking into migrating from AIX to Linux, so are looking for a knowledgeable individual in AIX to support with this process.
The successful applicant will have experience in;
- Manage several critical AIX systems with applications and databases
- Train other team members around AIX support and administration
- Migration of systems from AIX to Linux - this has yet to be confirmed.
Skills required include;
- Operating system migration, service pack update and technology level updates
- IBM AIX 5.3, 6.1, 7.1, 7.2, IBM PowerVM VIOS v2 and 3, Linux (Centos and RedHat), Oracle Linux for OVM
- IBM PowerVM, VIOS version 1,2 and 3.
- VIO server configuration, best practice implementation for network resilience, shared Ethernet failover, and resilient NPIV implementation.
- IBM Integrated Virtualisation Manager (IVM).
- HMC and vHMC code installation, maintenance, and upgrade
- NIM on all versions of AIX, end to end management of system backups and step through of patching to provide reliable NIM recovery following AIX Server upgrades
- Migration of applications & databases from AIX to Linux
