Senior Safety Engineer

Based in Preston a Senior Safety Engineer is required on a 12 month contract basis with a leading UK defence company.

Requirements:

  • Evaluation of aircraft and system/sub-system design safety in support of platform safety certification throughout ELC Phases 1 to 6
  • Generating, updating and reviewing Aircraft, System and Sub-System System Safety Assessment Reports in support of the certification process or provision of inputs to partner companies
  • Generating, updating and reviewing Aircraft Zonal Hazard Analysis Reports (ZHAs) in support of the certification process or provision of inputs to partner companies
  • Maintenance and update of the Platform hazard logs
  • Review of platform certification evidence and generating safety certification arguments/justifications to assert that the Platform design is acceptability safe in support of the certification process, throughout ELC Phases 1 to 6
  • Ensuring safety engineering evidence supports acceptable Safety Certification of the product design
  • Ensuring that Certification evidence supports achievement of an acceptable level of product design safety

Essentials Skills:

  • The role requires a good understanding of Airborne Platforms and Systems, Safety Engineering and Certification.
  • A highly self-motivated individual with excellent communications skills.
  • Understanding of airborne product certification, how safety engineering supports the certification process and the context and ability to assess, generate and assert safety justifications/arguments at all levels of the design engineering V-life cycle (equipment, sub-system, system and platform) at a safety certification level is essential.
  • Have good working knowledge of UK Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Regulatory Requirements
  • The candidate for this role must have a good level of experience in delivering Airborne product design safety activities through, as a minimum, phases 1 to 6 of the Engineering Lifecycle.
  • You will have a Degree or equivalent in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or some other comparable Engineering discipline. Alternatively, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of qualifications.
