We are recruiting for Data Centre & Comms Room Infrastructure Engineer for one our clients based in London

Job title: Data Centre & Comms Room Infrastructure Engineer

Duration of contract: 3 months

Location: Various sites in London

Key skills:

1. MUST have done a recent relocation or installation of small UPS systems.

2.IP Networking - need to be able to transport, install and carry ad give it basic settings

3. Moving heavy equipment from one place to another actual doing the install and relocation and move NIT managing it etc

  • A recent and strong track record of hands on, physical and manual relocation and installation of IT equipment into communication rooms, including small single phase UPS systems and batterys rated up to 5Kw, intelligent PDU's, UPS web management cards and environmental monitoring systems.
  • Proven ability to configure basic network parameters on Data Centre and comms room infrastructure devices, such as intelligent PDU's, UPS web management cards and environmental monitoring systems and patch devices into the network given device documentation and basic internal training.
  • Proven ability to interrogate, understand and act on warnings, informational, error and critical alarms and alerts from data centre critical infrastructure, such as intelligent PDU's, UPS web management cards and environmental monitoring systems and BMS.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety when working in Data Centre and comms rooms, in relation to the safe manual handing, transportation and installation of heavy items of rack mountable equipment, safely connecting and disconnecting data centre infrastructure to single and three phase power supplies and the risk involved to yourself, others and critical services being supported by the infrastructure. Familiar and competent in the use of server lifts, pallet trucks and trolleys.
  • Competent in the use of a DCIM product, data centre network patching and power connectivity requests, raising change requests and responding to incidents and service requests via an IT ticketing and logging system.
  • Able to take on a mobile and agile role, working at multiple sites across the London campus and Slough colo.
